Amy couldn’t have described the night any better when she said....
“We are at a German themed Octoberfest in
Nicaragua and everyone is speaking English!”
I have to say that this was was one of the weirdest nights of my life....and I’m pretty sure the same goes for Amy. The place was filled with Ex-Pats ranging from 25 to 75. There were a few scattered Nicos in the crowd but they were mostly the young wives of retired Gringos. The fee was $12 to get in, and that included a beer, a t-shirt, and dinner. Can’t beat that! We spent the first hour drinking the imported German beers, listening to German music provided by the stylish DJ’s above, and taking in the absolutely ridiculous scene. For dinner, brats, kraut, and other German delicacies were served buffet style. Then the DJ’s started serving up some more modern tunes and that’s when things kicked into gear! These retired Gringos can party their wrinkled old asses off! They were pounding beers, doing shots, grinding on the dance floor (sometimes with me) and getting up on the bar! By 11 pm Amy and I were done, but not the old Gringo ex-pats. We heard the next morning that they all went to the local disco and everything ended around 2 am! They put us to shame, but it’s ok. We didn’t want to waste the day away sleeping in the room. We wanted to waste it by sleeping by the pool with daiquiris.....and we did......and it was freaking awesome.....
Nicaragua rules.
