WOW. First let me say this: I am sorry for all the lack of updates to the site. Now let me tell you why......we honestly haven’t done any thing that cool since the last update. We have just been working, eating, sleeping, and working. Well....Amy did most of the working but I was there to help, and I do teach a class 4 nights a week. Ok back to the main point of this blog...the soccer game.
Our dueños....from this point on I will refer to them as our Tico family because they are more to us than just the owners of our casa......Our Tico family took us to see Saprissa vs. San Carlos. Saprissa is the team from San Jose. We were all routing for San Carlos since Patricia’s family is from San Carlos. Basically the whole family went to the game: Heiner, Patricia and their kids, Dani and Maripaz, Patricia’s parents, Carlos and Bernarda, and of course last but certainly not least Oscar! Yes, that’s right....OSCAR IS BACK! (more about that in another blog)
SO....the game was relatively boring in the first half. It was 0-0 at half. The second half opened up a little and was a lot more fast paced. San Carlos had a great D but they only were using one forward and couldn’t generate much offense. Saprissa was very fast and crafty, but had a hard time cracking the San Carlos defense. The game ended 1-0 Saprissa. Their goal was a bit flukey. It came off of a bad clearance from the San Carlos defender. The San Carlos keeper was coming out to get a ball at the top of the 18 and then the defender stepped in front to clear it. He drilled the ball directly to a Saprissa midfielder who managed to poke it over the keeper to a forward running on to the ball. Needless to say he had an open net and tucked it away.
Aside from the relatively boring game, the crowd was lively and chanting. Be sure to check out the pics and videos of the game!
